1979 “Fauna and Flora” Series.

Front: Puntius nigrofasciatus (black ruby barb) fish.  The fish belongs to the minnow family or originates from Sri Lanka.  It is found in the forested streams from the Kelani basin to the Nilwala basin, they are found in streams on hills around 1000 ft (300 m) in elevation. Their population in Sri Lanka has diminished due to the aquarium export trade.

Back:  (Vertical) Cethosia nietneri nietneri (Tamil lacewing) butterfly and Dasia haliana (tree skink) lizard on Murraya cleniei branch. Solid security thread.
